Global Rights is an international human rights capacity-building non-governmental organization (NGO). Global Rights was founded in Washington DC, USA in 1978 with the name International Human Rights Law Group and changed its name to Global Rights: Partners for Justice in 2003 at its 25th anniversary. Global Rights works with local activists in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to promote and protect the rights of marginalized populations. We provide technical assistance and training to enable local partners document and expose human rights abuses, conduct community outreach and mobilization, advocate for legal and policy reform, and provide legal and paralegal services.

Job Description

The Driver performs the operations, maintenance, and management of Global Rights vehicles,  including routine maintenance, registration, and tagging as well as providing transportation for program activities

Project Vehicles Tasks:

  • Drive Global Rights staff within and outside of Abuja for official activities.
  • Ensure record-keeping systems for vehicle issues, including fuel, mileage, and trip logs; observe all GR vehicle utilization policies, in country traffic laws
  • Responsible for maintenance of project vehicle, keeping accurate records, and following a schedule of routine maintenance, cleaning, etc.
  • Ensure the readiness of the vehicle for transport service by checking oil, water, fuel, and other parts of the vehicle before driving.

 Office Tasks:

  • Purchase basic office supplies
  • Work with the Finance and Admin Manager to arrange for repairs, maintenance, and improvements to the office as necessary.
  • Regularly check post office boxes, collect and dispatch letters, parcels and other correspondence.

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years professional experience in a similar role with an NGO.
  • Valid Nigerian driver’s license and good knowledge of Nigerian roads
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Must be flexible and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle mechanics
  • Ability to use the Microsoft suite, especially MS Word and Excel.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
