ICEA Watch: Election Environment Baseline, Nigeria | 25 August – 30 September 2026

Every incident in this edition happened during the campaign season, with the Electoral Act 2026 in force. Violence in this period was not tied to a polling day. It reached party meetings, party offices, candidates’ convoys, local chairmen and traditional rulers and, in several cases, was foreshadowed by public threats from officeholders.

ICEA WATCH: Tracking Electoral Violence and Related Incidents in Nigeria | 18 February - 15 August 2026

This report highlights incidents recorded between February and August 2026. A summary of the atrocities documented during the period include at least eight killing-related incidents, four reports of inflammatory political rhetoric, four attacks on political actors, four incidents affecting INEC facilities or personnel, and five incidents of voter intimidation.
