Global Rights is an international human rights capacity-building non-governmental organization (NGO). Global Rights was founded in Washington DC, USA in 1978 with the name International Human Rights Law Group and changed its name to Global Rights: Partners for Justice in 2003 at its 25th anniversary. Global Rights works with local activists in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to promote and protect the rights of marginalized populations. We provide technical assistance and training to enable local partners document and expose human rights abuses, conduct community outreach and mobilization, advocate for legal and policy reform, and provide legal and paralegal services.

Key Responsibilities:

The Program Intern will support Global Rights’ human rights and equitable resource governance program. The individual in this role will assist with:

  • Conducting research and analysis on human rights and resource governance issues.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of human rights and equitable resource governance programs and initiatives.
  • Assisting with stakeholder engagement and outreach efforts.
  • Providing support for the organization’s advocacy efforts.
  • Attending meetings and taking notes for dissemination to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the development of training and resources for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field, such as human rights, international relations, environmental studies, or governance.
  • Strong understanding of human rights and resource governance issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
