Global Rights is an international human rights capacity-building non-governmental organization (NGO). Global Rights was founded in Washington DC, USA in 1978 with the name International Human Rights Law Group and changed its name to Global Rights: Partners for Justice in 2003 at its 25th anniversary. Global Rights works with local activists in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to promote and protect the rights of marginalized populations. We provide technical assistance and training to enable local partners document and expose human rights abuses, conduct community outreach and mobilization, advocate for legal and policy reform, and provide legal and paralegal services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Global Rights policies and procedures are followed.
- Helps maintain the inventory tracker, procurement databases, inventory tracking, and asset tagging.
- Supports with organizing meetings and logistics by working with local vendors, hotel staff, and venues as needed for project-related events.
- Assists with the management of vendor relationships and regularly updates the Vendor Database.
- Conduct price/cost/reasonability analyses. Identify and qualify potential suppliers (and products/services) through market research efforts.
- Assist with drafting of RFQs and preparing purchase orders; prepare comparative analysis summaries.
- Assist in the development of the payment schedules and sample gap schedules.
- Assist in filing payment vouchers and procurement documents, ensuring all necessary documents are complete and properly signed by appropriate individuals.
- Assist in the development of petty cash schedules.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- University Degree/HND in Accounting
- Minimum of 1 year experience as an Accountant and Administrator
- Understanding of key aspects of Accounting
- Strong interest in human rights and social justice issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel spreadsheets or comparable software
- Verbal and written language skills in English required.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to learn complex program procedures.
- Good typing skills. Good memo composition and editing skills.
- Familiar with internet search engines and able to undertake background search on well-defined tasks.
- Able to work independently by managing priorities and workload within general schedule of work, instructions, and standardized practices.
- Excellent command of written and verbal English
