Teklemariam Barhane, a human rights activist from Ethiopia, sits down with Global Rights to discuss the business-related, human rights issues facing his country. Mr. Barhane also talks about how the organization for which he works, Human Rights Council-Ethiopia, stands to benefit from its joining the African Coalition for Corporate Accountability (ACCA), which Global Rights helped found in November 2013.
Meet Gulsom Hussaini, a graduate of Global Rights' Young Lawyers in Training program, which she attended while studying law at Balkh University. She now works as an attorney at a private law firm, an opportunity she believes afforded to her primarily because of her experience with Global Rights.
Meet Hedayatullah Azizi, a defense lawyer and graduate of Global Rights "Young Lawyers in Training Course," which improves the education and training of law and Shariah students in Afghanistan by supplementing their theory-based curricula with practical legal skills and experiences related to human and women's rights.
Meet Khujista Alizada, a graduate from the law faculty at Al-Beroni University in Afghanistan. Through the Global Rights Legal Fellowship Program, Khujista gained experience working for violence-against-women prosecution units that are housed in the country's attorney general's office. She now works with United States Agency for International Development (USAID), where she works on issues related to gender and access to justice in Afghanistan.
